Peyton & Tristen’s Surprise Fourth of July Proposal at Daniels Park | Colorado Proposal Photographer

Some surprises are worth every second of anticipation—and Peyton planned one that Tristen will never forget. Traveling all the way from South Dakota, the couple spent the Fourth of July weekend exploring beautiful Colorado. Tristen believed they had simply booked a couples photo session at Daniels Park, never imagining that the afternoon would end with a proposal. To make the surprise believable, Peyton and I planned everything in advance. I “ran late” to our scheduled session, giving them time to wander through the park while I secretly got into position. As they approached one of the scenic overlooks, I quietly hid behind a large stone pillar, camera in hand, waiting for the perfect moment. With the hazy Colorado sky stretching over the mountains, the landscape felt calm, romantic, and almost cinematic. The soft light created a dreamy atmosphere that perfectly matched the emotion of what was about to happen.

As soon as they reached the overlook, they chatted as Peyton built up the courage to pop the big question, Peyton dropped to one knee. The look of complete surprise on Tristen’s face was priceless. One moment they were waiting for their photographer to arrive, and the next they were celebrating one of the biggest milestones of their lives. Tears, laughter, hugs, and the happiest “yes” filled the overlook as the mountains stood quietly in the background.

After giving the couple a few moments to soak it all in, I stepped out from behind the pillar to introduce myself—not as the photographer who had been running late, but as the photographer who had been there all along, capturing every genuine reaction from the very beginning.

Once the excitement settled, we explored Daniels Park together for a newly engaged portrait session. The hazy Fourth of July sky created soft, glowing light that made every image feel timeless, while the sweeping Colorado views served as the perfect backdrop for the start of their next chapter.

Helping plan surprises like this is one of my favorite parts of being a Colorado proposal photographer. From coordinating the cover story to finding the perfect hiding spot and documenting every authentic emotion, it’s an honor to preserve moments that couples will remember forever.

Congratulations, Peyton and Tristen! Thank you for trusting Gladu Photography to capture such an unforgettable proposal. Wishing you both a lifetime filled with love, adventure, and memories as beautiful as the day you said “yes.”
